Teacher of Science (0.6 FTE)

A rare opportunity has arisen to join our team in Warwickshire’s beautiful, medieval market town of Henley-in-Arden. Where better to teach Science than in the district of Stratford-upon-Avon, at the heart of Shakespeare’s county? We are looking for an enthusiastic Pastoral Manager to join our Pastoral team. Pastoral support plays an important role in not only the efficient running of the school, but also in ensuring that students can reach their potential in a safe and supportive learning environment. The main focus of the role would be within main school, from 11-16 years of age. This is a non-teaching role as a key member of our pastoral team. The successful applicant will work closely with students across the school, providing pastoral care. The role will involve supporting individual pupils in their personal development and academic progress, including social and emotional learning and helping to find ways to address underlying causes of any concerning or challenging behaviour.

The successful candidate will be calm, confident, assertive, patient, highly organised, able to work collaboratively and be an extremely effective communicator.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • To promote positive student behaviour, engagement and wellbeing both inside and outside of the classroom
  • To work with Progress Lead to promote excellent behaviour, high standards, manners and a positive attitude to learning
  • To support Progress Leader with the day to day monitoring of students and monitoring the attendance of key focus groups
  • To support the Progress Lead in running and monitoring internal sanctions
  • To maintain regular contact with families/carers of students in need of extra support, to keep them informed of the student’s needs and progress and to secure positive family support and involvement
  • Post 16 support, work experience, careers and ADSL

Job Title: Design Technology Technician

Responsible to: Head of Design Technology

Hours of Work: 37 per week (8.30am-4.30pm)

Contract: Band C, Full time (37 hours per week) 39 weeks per year (Term time plus 5 days)

Overall Responsibility

  • To carry out responsibilities associated with the role of Technician to Design Technology.
  • To ensure that workshop materials, tools and equipment are available and in good working order.
  • To provide practical support for all Design Technology Teachers, including when required food technology.
  • Contribute to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare and personal care of children and young people with regard to Keeping Children Safe in Education 2021 and Safeguarding and Child Protection 2020/21
  • Carry out other technical assistance for teachers as directed by the Associate Headteacher.

Specific Duties

 Health & Safety

  • To control and store safely all chemicals, flammables and specialized solutions, ensuring that current Health and Safety, COSHH and ESCC regulations are adhered to
  • To maintain all necessary safety signs adjacent to machinery and maintain a record of all equipment checks
  • To adhere to all health and safety requirements and be up to date with changes in policy
  • Support the School’s implementation of all other current statutory requirements, e.g. Disability Discrimination Act, Access to Work, Equal Opportunities, Child Protection
  • To attend Health & Safety termly meetings on behalf of Design & Art.

Maintenance and Servicing

  • To manage ordering of resources for Design Technology particularly Product Design.
  • To ensure equipment is well maintained and T classrooms are kept clean and tidy in line with any Health and Safety requirements.
  • To organise cleaning down on tools, machines and classrooms each day.
  • To carry out maintenance checks of tools and equipment/machinery
  • To ensure that within the classrooms all equipment and machinery are of a good working order, to include cleaning and maintaining of all equipment eg. CAM machines (Laser, vinyl cutter, 3D router, 3D printer & Dye Sublimation), classroom and garage machines and hand tools, vacuum former/oven, soldering irons/electronics equipment and craft knives.
  • To maintain stock by raising orders, keeping stock records, receive equipment and materials and maintain inventory system
  • To assist the Art Department when required.

Supporting Staff

  • To support teaching staff in the preparation of materials eg. cut and organise materials for Graphics and Product Design lessons
  • To maintain and keep an up to date inventory of D&T resources and manage this effectively to ensure all equipment is ready for use in lessons, assessments, examinations and enrichment activities.
  • To assist both teachers and students during lessons
  • To complete displays in classrooms and CA&T work spaces, present student work for exhibitions, open evenings and external moderation.
  • To produce teaching resources and organise storage for D&T teaching staff
  • To assist with the running of enrichment activities, competitions and school events (e.g. Lunch clubs, Faculty Theme Days, House Events etc)

To support the Teachers within the Art Department when required

  • To encourage and support student leaders in Technology subjects.
  • To maintain high standards of professional behaviour towards colleagues and students.

Pastoral Care

  • Deal with or report, to the nearest member of the teaching staff, incidents that are seen or reported regarding pupils’ welfare.

Continuing Professional Development – Personal

  • In conjunction with the Associate Headteacher, take responsibility for personal professional development, keeping up-to-date with research and developments related to school efficiency, which may lead to improvements in the day-to-day running of the school.
  • Undertake any necessary professional development as identified in the School Development Plan taking full advantage of any relevant training and development available.
  • Maintain a professional portfolio of evidence to support the Appraisal process – evaluating and improving own practice.

This post is based at either Arden Academy (Knowle), Lode Heath School (Solihull) and Henley in Arden School (Henley in Arden).

Hours of work offered will vary by site but will primarily be evenings (7:00pm-10:00pm) and weekends (8:30am-5:00pm).

Key Responsibilities

To work as part of a team to provide a friendly and courteous service to all users of the school facilities.

Opening Up & Closing Facilities for users of the school

  • Arrive with plenty of time before the first session. Open the required buildings and unset the alarm.
  • To ensure that the appropriate checks have been conducted prior to the letting commencing.
  • Meet and greet hirers and assist with any set up required.
  • Ensure the site is safe and clean before locking buildings and arming the intruder systems.
  • Communicate with managers before leaving site and completing shift.
  • Stewards must remain onsite at all times during their shift.

Specific responsibilities

  • Ensure Health & Safety guidelines are adhered to during shift, particularly securing the premises at the end of the shift.
  • Use check sheets provided to check facilities at start and end of every shift.
  • Be responsible for providing required equipment for activities before start of a hirers session – then putting equipment back at the end of their session.
  • Maintain a friendly and courteous manner at all times when dealing with enquiries. Take down details in an accurate and legible manner.
  • Ensure that all hirers comply with the terms and conditions of hire and to the times agreed on the hire calendar.
  • Adhere to the cleaning rota and ensure cleaning check sheet is signed at each shift.
  • Reports any incidents however minor in the communications book.
  • To act as a First Aider or Emergency contact (Emergency First Aid Training will be required).
  • To undertake other associated duties, such as litter picking or emptying waste bins.
  • Lock and alarm buildings once lettings have finished and hirers have vacated premises. 

Customer Care

  • To carry out your duties in a polite, efficient and cheerful manner building relationships with regular users
  • To treat all users with care, consideration and courtesy in accordance with the schools ethos and values
  • To promote a favourable image of Arden Multi Academy Trust to all clients
  • To present high standards of personal appearance in accordance with the schools ethos and values

Health, Safety and Security

  • Physical Effort; the job sometimes may involve a level of physical effort
  • The post holder will be required to undertake training as necessary. Contract: Permanent, part-time, 15 hours per week, 3 hours per day (3:15pm – 6:15pm)

41 weeks per year: term time plus Inset days and 2 weeks in the school holidays

We are seeking a cleaner to join the school team at our small secondary school in Henley in Arden, Solihull.   The ideal candidate will take pride in the high standards of presentation at our school?

The successful candidate will work with the cleaning team in ensuring a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the school. Duties would include performing cleaning duties such as replenishing consumables, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, emptying bins, cleaning toilets.

A willingness to clean any area of the school as requested by the supervisor, to take personal responsibility for the standard of work, to participate in any training and development opportunities.
