Main purpose of the role:

  • The teaching of students, line management of the subject and the tracking of progress within the
    subject
  • Promote ICT and Business within the school and be a guardian of the teaching within the
    department
  • Carry out any additional duties as may be required by the Associate Headteacher or the Executive
    Headteacher.

Responsibilities: Role Specific

  • Promote and ensure meaningful use of assessment.
  • Teaching and modelling outstanding teaching of ICT and Business
  • Monitoring and evaluation of the impact of marking and feedback from teachers with the
    department
  • Responsibility for aspects quality assurance within the department, producing reports to the
    Associate Headteacher, Executive Headteacher and Governing body.
  • Raising attainment and progress of vulnerable groups.
  • To lead the school’s readiness and preparation for external inspection.
  • Other responsibilities to reflects the needs of the academy and skills of the successful applicant.

Responsibilities: Pastoral, Teaching & Learning

  • Be at the forefront and develop whole Academy strategies to improve attainment and
    achievement
  • Have a teaching commitment as agreed with the Headteacher
  • Lead the analyse & monitoring of intervention strategies and their impact on students and
    teachers at classroom level. Liaising and working with outside agencies and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities: Other Activities

  • Promoting the general progress and wellbeing of individual students and of any class or group of
    students assigned to him/her.
  • Providing guidance and advice to students on educational and social matters and on their further
    education and future careers, including signposting to more expert sources of advice.
  • Producing relevant record & reports as required.
  • Producing records of and reporting on the personal/social needs of students.
  • Communicating and consulting with parents/carers and leading the Parent/ Carer Council
  • Communicating and co-operating with outside agencies.

Science Technician

Science Technician at Henley in Arden School

Reports to: Head of Science

Salary: Band B, (£18,562 – £19,312 fte) £10,703 – £11,136 pa

Contract: (25 hours per week,  39 weeks p.a.)

Main Purpose of the role:

  • Providing technical support to teaching staff in the school laboratories, classrooms and preparation areas
  • Ensuring the provision of high quality and timely services to support the delivery of the curriculum
  • Assisting the Senior technician in ensuring that all Health and Safety legislation and policies are adhered to and the promotion and observance of a safe working environment

Work Performed

  • Contribute to planning development and organisation of systems and procedures including maintenance of specialist resources
  • Making up solutions. Using recipe cards, data sheets and CLEAPSS Hazards, make up solutions to the appropriate concentrations and accuracy taking full notice of the precautions needed
  • Assist the Senior technician in the maintenance and repair of equipment and apparatus or in the organising of maintenance and repair, seeking specialist assistance when necessary, to ensure safe and efficient operation
  • Ensure that laboratories and all equipment used are kept clean, tidy and in a safe condition also ensuring that both routine and non-routine checking, maintenance, calibration, cleaning and fault investigation is carried out to the required standard
  • Assist in the checking of goods delivered against orders and in carrying out inventory checks on a regular basis

Key Responsibilities

Experience is not required, as training will be provided, although applicants will be asked to declare if they have invigilated previously and whether they have any current maladministration/malpractice sanctions applied to them.

An ideal candidate will:

Main duties

  • To conduct examinations in accordance with the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ), awarding body and Henley in Arden School instructions.
  • To play a key role in upholding the integrity of the examination/assessment process

Before exams

  • To report to and be briefed by the exams officer prior to each exam session
  • To keep confidential exam papers and materials secure before, during and after exams
  • To ensure exam rooms are set out according to the instructions
  • To admit candidates into exam rooms
  • To identify, seat, and instruct candidates in the conduct of their exams To distribute the correct exam papers and materials to candidates To deal with candidate queries

During exams

Lettings Steward at Henley in Arden School

Contract: Casual – evenings and weekends

Line Manager:  Trust Lettings Officer

This post is based at either Arden Academy (Knowle), Lode Heath School (Solihull) and Henley in Arden School (Henley in Arden).

Hours of work offered will vary by site but will primarily be evenings (7:00pm-10:00pm) and weekends (8:30am-5:00pm).

Key Responsibilities

To work as part of a team to provide a friendly and courteous service to all users of the school facilities.

Opening Up & Closing Facilities for users of the school

  • Arrive with plenty of time before the first session. Open the required buildings and unset the alarm.
  • To ensure that the appropriate checks have been conducted prior to the letting commencing.
  • Meet and greet hirers and assist with any set up required.
  • Ensure the site is safe and clean before locking buildings and arming the intruder systems.
  • Communicate with managers before leaving site and completing shift.
  • Stewards must remain onsite at all times during their shift.

Specific responsibilities

  • Ensure Health & Safety guidelines are adhered to during shift, particularly securing the premises at the end of the shift.
  • Use check sheets provided to check facilities at start and end of every shift.
  • Be responsible for providing required equipment for activities before start of a hirers session – then putting equipment back at the end of their session.
  • Maintain a friendly and courteous manner at all times when dealing with enquiries. Take down details in an accurate and legible manner.
  • Ensure that all hirers comply with the terms and conditions of hire and to the times agreed on the hire calendar.
  • Adhere to the cleaning rota and ensure cleaning check sheet is signed at each shift.
  • Reports any incidents however minor in the communications book.
  • To act as a First Aider or Emergency contact (Emergency First Aid Training will be required).
  • To undertake other associated duties, such as litter picking or emptying waste bins.
  • Lock and alarm buildings once lettings have finished and hirers have vacated premises.

  • To carry out your duties in a polite, efficient and cheerful manner building relationships with regular users
  • To treat all users with care, consideration and courtesy in accordance with the schools ethos and values

Health, Safety and Security

We are seeking a cleaner to join the school team at our small secondary school in Henley in Arden, Solihull.   The ideal candidate will take pride in the high standards of presentation at our school?

The successful candidate will work with the cleaning team in ensuring a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the school. Duties would include performing cleaning duties such as replenishing consumables, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, emptying bins, cleaning toilets.

A willingness to clean any area of the school as requested by the supervisor, to take personal responsibility for the standard of work, to participate in any training and development opportunities.
